Background

Feb 2022

In February 2022, research and industry joined forces to sign the Materials 2030 Manifesto that was presented to the Commissioner Mariya Gabriel. This Manifesto underlined the key role that advanced materials will play in reaching Climate neutrality and sustainability and thus served as a reference document for the foundation of the Advanced Materials 2030 Initiative (AMI2030).

Jun 2022

Later on, on June 29th, AMI2030 was presented by representatives of the 4 key European Technological platforms (EMIRI, EUMAT, SUSCHEM and MANUFUTURE) at the INDTECH2022 Conference, in a plenary session chaired by Joanna Drake, Deputy Director-General of DG R&I. A draft version of the roadmap was released as well in June.

Oct 2022

After setting up an interim governance and a robust working structure the Advanced Materials 2030 Initiative officially launched the engagement campaign in October 2022 with the aim to accelerate the development of sustainable advanced materials as the backbone of the green and digital transition and a source of prosperity and sovereignty in Europe.
